Conference on the Future of Europe, Final Outcome and Follow-up

1 July 2022

The Conference on the Future of Europe launched a debate that brought together citizens, representatives of EU institutions, national parliaments, regional authorities and civil society members.

As many as 49 proposals emerged from the Conference, comprising 325 measures on how to implement them, broken down into 9 themes, and based on the recommendations made by European and national citizens' panels and contributions from national events, as well as the multilingual digital platform and the discussions of the plenary and the 9 thematic working groups.

In May 2022, the proposals were submitted to the Presidents of the Parliament, the Council and the Commission of the EU.

It is now up to the European institutions to follow up on the proposals made by citizens so as to shape the future they want for the European Union.

In order to keep citizens informed, a feedback conference was held on 2 December 2022 to communicate and explain how the three EU institutions are following up on the Conference proposals.
