RESPONSIBILITIES
The Directorate General State Aid is responsible for:
- building the Italian position on State Aid through a coordination activity involving central administrations and - through these - local authorities;
- providing public administrations with prior information on State Aid in order for both national and regional legislation to be properly implemented according to the EU law and principles;
- ensuring participation in both European and national coordination and consultation fora on State Aid, as well as the relations with the EU Commission and other Member States;
- coordinating the national reply to formal investigation procedures and possible unlawful aid when several administrations are involved;
- monitoring pending cases on State Aid recovery;
- contributing to the national quarterly reports on formal investigation procedures and State Aid recovery;
- ensuring the national administrations’ compliance with the information requirements on State Aid in the Services of General Economic Interest (SGEI).
