Wednesday, 4 May 2022, Hearing of Class IV A of the Classical Lyceum Rinaldo D'Aquino of Nusco

Hearing summary

Together with Professors Antonella Prudente and Emilia Iuliano, the following students of Class IV A of the Classical Lyceum Rinaldo D'Aquino (Nusco) took the word: Alessandro Del Sordo, Sara Perna, Antonio De Simone, Maria Cresta, Martina Conte, Michele De Luca, Ilaria Fiore, Simone Ferriero, Martina Laucella, Marco Benevento, Michela Rullo, Salvatore Di Crasto, Aurora Prudente, Attilio Fierro, Valeria Porcelli, Valentina Salvi, Giusi Laucella, Giada Del Giudice, Giulia Salvi.

In light of the lesson learned from the pandemic, the students highlighted the need for Europe to invest more in research, primarily in the medical field, and to counter diseases such as cancer and HIV. The students also called for more European investment in technology.

Taking into account the most recent Russian-Ukrainian crisis, in their opinion the main goals that Europe should pursue lie in: increasing energy production; exploiting kinetic, tidal and bioenergy; and focussing on more information, sustainable technologies, and research. At the same time, Europe should aim at reducing production costs.

Further reflection was devoted to school education, as teachings often move on a purely theoretical level. The students proposed to keep schools open also in the afternoon hours, to take advantage of complementary – practical –teachings, which can help deal with the world of work and everyday life.
